Community Invited to Participate in Jackson Creek Prescribed Burn – October 19, 2025
Jackson, CA — The Healthy Forest Alliance will conduct a community-led prescribed burn on Sunday, October 19, 2025, near Jackson Creek in Amador County. This event is part of an ongoing regional effort to reduce hazardous fuels, restore forest health, and promote the safe and beneficial use of prescribed fire across California’s foothill communities.
The Jackson Creek Prescribed Burn will be led by qualified personnel operating under California Certified Burn Boss (CARX) and NWCG standards, ensuring strict adherence to safety, weather, and air quality guidelines. The project provides an invaluable opportunity for fire practitioners, landowners, and local residents to work together in a controlled, educational environment designed to promote ecological resilience and wildfire preparedness.
“All are welcome,” said Lynda Cull, Prescribed Fire Coordinator for the Healthy Forest Alliance. “We’ll provide hands-on training for anyone interested in learning to burn safely and effectively. These community burns are an important way to build local capacity and restore our relationship with good fire.”
Two participation options are available:
-
Fire Practitioners — Those seeking hands-on experience or NWCG Task Book sign-offs. Required PPE includes a long-sleeved shirt, jeans or fire-resistant pants, leather boots, gloves, and eye protection.
-
Community Observers — Landowners, students, and residents who want to observe operations, ask questions, and learn more about prescribed burning.
