Instructions for Online Component
The online course takes approx. 30-40 hours to complete. It is recommended to set aside several dedicated sessions. Print and/or photograph completion records for each section and send them all in at one time. Without the online coursework complete, registrants will not be able to attend the field training or receive the final certificate.
You will need to create an account on the Wildland Fire Learning Portal which may take a couple of days to be approved. - https://
Complete these five online sections and print the completion record for each:
S-190- https://
S-130- https://
L-180- https://
You will need to make a “FEMA SID” number to log into the following online courses:
IS-100c-https://training.fema.
IS-700b- https://training.
PACK TEST: Prior to the field training, but after being accepted into the course, you will need to successfully complete an “arduous pack test,” which is a 3-mile walk with a 45-lbs pack in under 45 minutes, on flat ground with no running. If you can quickly walk a few miles with a full camping back-pack for 45 minutes, then you can likely do it! Please prepare with proper hydration, nutrition and training, do not overexert yourself. Have a witness to ensure your wellbeing, verify your time and fill out the verification form.
We are allowing folks to self administer with a witness. We are counting on your honesty, and in your fitness level. It's everyone's safety on the line. Complete the form and turn it in upon completion and after acceptance into the course.
