Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation Purchases Chainsaw Training Trailer and 20 Chainsaws to Strengthen National Forest Resilience
Truckee, CA — The Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation (HFA) proudly announces the purchase of a dedicated Chainsaw Training Trailer and 20 professional-grade chainsaws to expand workforce development and capacity building efforts in support of forest resilience across the United States.
This major equipment investment enhances the Foundation’s ability to deliver hands-on chainsaw training aligned with national wildland fire and fuels management standards. The new mobile training platform will support entry-level and advanced sawyer development, prescribed fire operations, hazardous fuels reduction, and community-based stewardship initiatives.
“Chainsaw competency is a foundational skill in both prescribed fire and wildfire operations,” said Richard Carvalho, Founder and Executive Director of the Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation. “By investing in training infrastructure and equipment, we are building the skilled workforce needed to restore forests, reduce hazardous fuels, and protect communities nationwide.”
The newly acquired Chainsaw Training Trailer is designed as a mobile, deployable training unit and includes:
-
20 professional-grade chainsaws for instructional use
-
Full personal protective equipment (PPE) cache
-
Maintenance and sharpening stations
-
Safety signage and instructional materials
-
Tool storage and transport systems
The trailer will support structured chainsaw courses, field practicums, prescribed burn associations, conservation corps programs, and regional training events. By maintaining a standardized equipment cache, the Foundation ensures consistency in instruction, safety compliance, and operational readiness.
This investment directly advances the Foundation’s mission to strengthen communities through good fire by building technical skills, improving safety standards, and expanding access to professional development opportunities in forestry and wildland fire management.
The Healthy Forest Alliance Foundation continues to scale its national training footprint through equipment investments, instructor development, scholarships, and collaborative partnerships that advance safe, science-based prescribed fire and long-term forest stewardship.
