Healthy Forest Alliance On-call Crew - Jackson Creek Prescribed Burn

Jackson Creek Prescribed Burn – October 19, 2025

The Healthy Forest Alliance will be conducting the Jackson Creek Prescribed Burn on Sunday, October 19, 2025, near Jackson, California. This community-led prescribed fire is part of our ongoing effort to restore forest health, reduce hazardous fuels, and provide meaningful, hands-on training for local fire practitioners and landowners.

The burn will be conducted under the supervision of qualified personnel following NWCG and California Certified Burn Boss standards, with full compliance to safety and air quality regulations. Participants will gain valuable experience in ignition, holding, and mop-up operations while contributing to real-world wildfire resilience efforts in the Sierra foothills.

We welcome two types of participants:

• Fire Practitioners: Those seeking hands-on experience or NWCG Task Book evaluations. Practitioners must bring and wear appropriate PPE, including a long-sleeved shirt, jeans or fire-resistant pants, leather boots, gloves, and eye protection. Participants with full wildland PPE are encouraged to bring it.

• Community Observers: Local residents, students, or landowners interested in learning about prescribed fire, observing operations, and connecting with burn professionals in the field.

All are welcome, and training will be provided for anyone interested in learning how to safely and effectively use prescribed fire.
